Recognizing Our Holiday Heroes

As Santa Maria keeps moving through the new year, we reflect with immense gratitude on the incredible support we’ve received from our community during the Holidays. This year’s celebrations were truly heartwarming, thanks to the generosity and kindness of so many individuals and organizations.

Our partners and donors went above and beyond, ensuring that the women and children we serve experienced the joy and magic of the season.

From holiday meals and gifts to festive activities, every contribution brought smiles and hope to the families who call Santa Maria home. These moments of cheer are more than just celebrations; they’re reminders of the strength and compassion of our community.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, whose dedication and time made it all possible. Whether you helped with event preparations, organized donations, or spent time with our residents, your efforts made an extraordinary impact. Your kindness reminds us that we are never alone in our mission.

Together, we are empowering women and their children to build healthier, more productive, and self-fulfilling lives. This holiday season was a testament to what we can achieve as a united community.

A Heartfelt Thank You To These Holiday Heroes

  • Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club: The season of giving kicked off when they prepared homemade spaghetti and the fixings for dinner on Saturday, marking their first volunteer event with us.
  • ExxonMobil: They generously organized a toy drive and delivered the gifts just in time for Christmas Day, spreading joy to the children.
  • Family Missions West: They shared the spirit of a “posada,” filling the afternoon with laughter, creativity, and fun through crafting, games, and the highlight—a traditional piñata, always a favorite!
  • Houston20 Junior Board: They created Santa’s little workshop, where each of our child residents was able to pick out a Christmas present to give their mother.
  • Knights of Peter Claver Council #159, Nikki Brock-Maruska, St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church Wellness Ministry, and St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church: This wonderful partnership hosted a toy drive and provided cash gifts during a warm and fun gathering at the Kendra Scott location in Pearland, where we enjoyed networking with others who share our passion for helping families in need.
  • Kodiak Gas: They brought holiday magic to the Bonita House campus with an unforgettable evening, featuring Santa, Mama Claus, two real reindeer, and personalized holiday wishes for the children.
  • Kristina Dorsey and friends/family: They turned Paschall House into a festive holiday wonderland, filling our sober-living housing with extra love, hope, and gifts galore.
  • Life Change Church: They generously provided our mothers and children with warm coats and jackets to help them prepare for the winter weather.
  • National Charity League Cypress Gems: Their Annual Holiday Tea brought joy to families at Bonita House with special Christmas crafts and terrific snacks, creating a festive celebration.
  • Smith Foundation: Once again, they transformed the cafeteria room into “Santa’s Workshop” with cheerful “elves” helping participants pick out toys and baby essentials from their Santa letters.
  • Toys Fore Kids (Heather Nguyen and Shawn Taher): This amazing foundation transformed our biggest room into a magical “shopping” wonderland, where women could select toys for their children and a special gift for themselves, complete with a volunteer wrapping station.
  • TRIO Education: Our new partners adopted families in Recovery Housing, making a meaningful contribution to their holiday season.

Now, into 2025, we are carrying with us the hope, inspiration, and love you’ve shared. Thank you for being a part of Santa Maria’s story and for making a difference. Here’s to continuing this journey of transformation and impact in the year ahead.
