Santa Maria collaborates with more than 60 different nonprofit organizations to both aid and enhance our mission to empower women and their families to lead healthy, successful, productive, and self-fulfilling lives. These organizations provide products and services that are greatly needed by the women and families we serve. |
|
|
Since 2017 Santa Maria has partnered with the nonprofit Second Servings of Houston. Second Servings alleviates hunger and reduces waste in Houston by rescuing perfectly edible surplus food and delivering it directly to local charities. Through this mission Second Servings alleviates some of the food budget burden for nonprofits all while helping the environment. Second Servings’ efforts reduce the amount of methane that enters the environment via food waste, which accounts for 8-10% of all methane emissions.

Santa Maria is extremely grateful for this partnership. Each month Second Servings makes multiple trips a week to Santa Maria and delivers thousands of pounds of food. Between the first food delivery and today Second Servings has delivered more than 100,000 pounds of food to Santa Maria. Second Servings assists Santa Maria’s food budget while also providing special treats that our participants greatly enjoy such as Antone’s sandwiches or specialty desserts. |

Partnering Faith Communities frequently bring volunteers, desperately needed items and monetary donations to Santa Maria. We are grateful for their ongoing generosity, highlighted below are a few featured acts of kindness from our partnering Faith Communities. |

What fun! Greater Love Church brings a painting project to the kids and moms at Bonita House. We are so grateful. |

|
Life Change Ministries makes their quarterly visit to the donations center. This past weekend, they made self-care kits, organized the baby storage area, sorted and displayed clothing for women and children and began pulling back to school clothing and shoes for our back to school bash. |

|
A group from Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, our long time partners, donated two large and two small picnic tables and 100 craft kits for our residents to use. Each kit was in a bag decorated by their Vacation Bible School members!
