Women with Children

Santa Maria Hostel’s Women and Children’s Program provides intensive residential treatment for women and their children for up to ninety days. The program teaches addiction education, life skills education, motivational interviewing skills, parenting education, relapse prevention skills, cognitive behavior skills, domestic violence and many other classes related to the client’s individual treatment needs. Children either attend daycare or school during periods in which women are engaged in treatment activities. This eliminates many of the barriers that women face when coming into residential treatment and allows both them and their children to develop a stable regimine that they are encouraged to follow after leaving treatment. The children are also involved in drug prevention activities as well as after-school tutoring for school- aged children. Women wishing to obtain their General Education Diploma are encouraged to do so through a collaborative agreement with a community resource. Women and their children participate in weekly family education classes and weekly visitation with other children and significant family members. Santa Maria Hostel staff works closely with referral sources and significant family members to encourage stable, outside support systems and positive family engagement to help strengthen families.

For clients with children in need of a less restrictive level of care, Santa Maria Hostel also offers supportive residential services. Clients discharging from the intensive residential program can be serviced through this program. Santa Maria can also take referrals from outside agencies whose clients are in need of these services.

Donna White is the program director for both levels of care. Our admissions office can be reached at 713-657-0877.
